Set LIII (1955-1958)

Scope and Content

Blue cloth album with '1955-1958' and BPTC crest embroidered on cover containing 88 photographs of Bedford College of Physical Education students participating in college life. It is likely that the album was presented to the College by the students of Set LIII as a record of their time at the College. All of the pages have been titled with a 'theme' and all photographs are captioned with students and staff named. Inside the front cover of the album are the signatures of students from Set LIII.

Pages are titled with the following themes: 'Cocoa', 'Parties', 'Ice and Snow', 'Educational Visits' (to lacrosse at Rickmansworth, London Schools and Wimbledon), scenes from 'First Year Camp at Upware', 'Special Studies' (biologists on a field trip, English group in theatrical costume and the art club painting), 'Study', 'Leisure', 'Lacrosse', 'Buildings', 'Dance Demonstration 1958' and 'Third Years at Camp'. The album also shows students canoeing, taking gym practice, playing cricket and netball, and swimming.
