Scope and Content

Brown leather album containing 32 photographs of Bedford Physical Training College students participating in college life. It is likely that the album was presented to the College by the students of Set XXX as a record of their time at the College. Individual pages are captioned but only a few students and staff featured in the album are named.

The images show students of Set XXX; students participating in National and Revived Greek Dance possibly for a Demonstration Day; scenes from May Day celebrations at Ickwell in 1934 and Ickwell House and garden (owned by Lieutenant-Colonel George Hayward Wells); scenes of swimming and diving at Bedford High School Swimming Pool and Commercial Road Baths; views of various College buildings including nos. 3 and 37 Lansdowne Road and their gardens, Dynevor Road from the flats at 9 Dynevor Road, and the interior of the College's medical room and the gymnasium at [Bedford] High School [for Girls].
