Scope and Content

Printed report 'Multi-use of Bedford College of Physical Education as a centre for the development of regional sport in addition to its function as a college of physical education: Report of the Study Group to the Department of the Environment, the Department of Education and Science and the Sports Council'.

This report follows on from the publication of the Physical Education Profession Advisory Group's report into the contribution of the physical education profession to community sport in the eastern region ( see NAT6/1), which included a recommendation for the Bedford College of Physical Education to become a centre for the development of regional and county sport, as well as a teacher training college. A Study Group was set up in 1971 to carry out a detailed examination of the proposal.

The Principal of Bedford College of Physical Education, Eileen Alexander, and her successor, Patricia Bowen-West, served as members of the Study Group.
