Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Urban district councils existed from 1894 until 1974. The Local Government Act 1894 enhanced and clarified the powers of sanitary authorities and established urban and rural districts. Llandeilo Board of Health had been set up in 1859. From 1974, county and district councils controlled the public services.
Arranged into the following: council and Board of Health minute books; ledgers; treasurers account books; summary treasurers account books; general rate book; water rate books; private contract water rate books; and wages books.
