CHIPPING NORTON INCUMBENTS' PAPERS

Scope and Content

These consist of some correspondence from the 1880s, mostly concerning the retirement of the then incumbent, several stipendiary curates' licences, a copy of a sermon, and a service sheet from the 1930s.

All the items in this section, except for PAR64/9/X1/1, were found with the Borough Records of Chipping Norton. It will be seen that many of them are connected with Abram Creswicke Rawlinson, who was churchwarden at the end of the 19th century, as well as being prominent in local life. It is assumed that these papers were somehow mixed in with Rawlinson's other papers on borough matters, and were saved that way.
