Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Oddfellows are fraternal and benevolent societies, which originated in England in the 18th century. The Independent Order of Oddfellows (Manchester Unity) Friendly Society was founded in about 1810. The Society's Glaslyn Lodge was based in Beddgelert, Caernarfonshire, and the Madoc (or Madog) Lodge in Porthmadog, Caernarfonshire.
Arranged into the following: Madoc and Glaslyn Lodge Friendly Societies; and Rhosydd Slate Quarries.
