Records of Edward Greene, Managing Director of Edward Johnston & Company Ltd. Comprises private letter copy-books from Santos to London, 1892-1904; printed parity tables relating to the coffee trade, 1884-1903; and a volume, 'One hundred years of coffee' (privately printed, London, 1942).

Administrative / Biographical History

Edward Johnston & Company Ltd was a Brazilian coffee exporting house based in Santos. It was founded in 1842 by Edward Johnston who had an expert knowledge of Brazil. It became one of the leading firms in the coffee trade and is now Brazilian owned.


This collection was originally grouped together with the LABA MISC archives. At some point it was catalogued separately under the RefNo JOHNSTON
