Neath was a parish in Glamorgan, and is now part of Neath Port Talbot. The Town Council was established in 1976 following local government reorganisation, covering the central part of the town of Neath (i.e. excluding Briton Ferry, Tonna and Cadoxton, but including Cimla, Melincryddan and Llantwit).
