Correspondence, dance theatre programmes, articles and notes of Shirley Wimmer, dancer, choreographer, scholar and director of dance institutions.

Administrative / Biographical History

Shirley Wimmer was a dancer and dance scholar of international renown. She studied under some of the historical legends of dance including Martha Hill, Hanya Holm, Louis Horst, Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey, Charles Weidman and Jose Limon. She held teaching and administrative posts at such universities as University of California Los Angeles, Connecticut College, the State University of New York Cortland, University of Michigan, and Mills College. In 1969 Wimmer founded the School of Dance at Ohio University.
