Toot Baldon is a small village just to the south of Oxford itself. In 1914 it was united with the neighbouring parish of Marsh Baldon, and in 1972 they were joined by Nuneham Courtenay (whose
church was declared redundant). The parishes now form part of the Dorchester Area Team Ministry, which also includes Dorchester itself, Berinsfield, Clifton Hampden, Culham, Drayton St. Leonard, Long Wittenham and Little Wittenham, Stadhampton with Chislehampton, and Warborough.
The parish records of Toot Baldon have been deposited in three stages: two deposited were made with the Bodleian Library in 1977 and 1981 (which were transferred to Oxfordshire Archives in
the 1980s), and a third made directly with Oxfordshire Archives in 1996 as part of Accession Number 4116. Two Appendices list the contents of each deposit, and provide a concordance of
old and new references.
