Comprises correspondence between Mountstuart Elphinstone, Edmund Lomax (the owner of Parkhurst, Leith Hill, Surrey), William Miller and Mr [J] Fraser regarding Elphinstone's wish to be tenant at Parkhurst; the terms and conditions of the rent; length of occupation; changes made in the house with regards to furniture (bedsteads, tables etc), painting, etc. to make the house fit and comfortable for Elphinstone. Bills of accounts from Miller & Davey, Upholsterers and Cabinet Makers are also included as well as notes and lists made by Elphinstone to ensure the house is suitably furnished and habitable
