Detailed index to the deeds and documents of the Longford Hall estate in Stretford, Manchester. Also included are details of other properties held personally by the Rylands, such as their London houses, 'Northwood' in Buxton, properties on the Isle of Wight, and so on. Inserted into the rear of the volume are three separate folios containing details of properties and deeds acquired after the death of John Rylands, such as the Deansgate property which later housed the John Rylands Library, a house ('Fairholme') at Torquay, Devon, two farms in South Africa, and properties at Rome and Spezia, Italy. Also included is a list of the Stretford tenants' agreements. Inserts include notes from William Linnell acknowledging receipt of certain deeds, 1901 (inside cover); a sketch map of new streets built in Chorlton by the Lloyd trustees (p. 110); correspondence and receipts relating to a mortgage of properties in King Street, Liverpool; notes and maps relating to properties at Haven St, Ryde, on the Isle of Wight (p. 131); 2 newspaper cuttings relating to shares, etc., c.1888 (p. 146); a letter from William Linnell to Enriqueta Rylands relating to Reuben Spencer and the Portland St property, 1902, with a list of related deeds and documents (p. 154); and a map of the Longford Hall estate (p. 156).
