Scope and Content

Include name, age, address, marital status and blood group of mother; stages of labour (times); date and time of birth and whether live birth or stillborn; presentation (eg cephalic); gestation period; baby's sex, weight and name; whether any complications associated with the birth and drugs/anaesthetics administered; method of feeding the baby (breast or artificially fed); date of discharge. 1970s registers may also note whether the baby was legitimate or illegitimate.
