Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Board of Conservators of the Trent Fishery District was first constituted under the Salmon Fishery Act of 1865. The first meeting of the Board was held at the Midland Hotel Derby under the Chairmanship of Sir Oswald Mosley on 18 December 1866. The Board was reconstituted as the Trent Fishery Board under the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Act of 1923, with responsibility over the whole catchment area of the River Trent, its tributaries and canal system. In 1951 the Trent River Board took over the functions of the Trent Fishery Board.
The financial records are arranged in date order and are followed by the minute books, also in date order.
