Chris Davies b. 1954
Chris Davies was born in Lytham, Lancashire. He was educated at Cheadle HulmeSchool, Stockport, Gonville and Caius College Cambridge, and the Universityof Kent at Canterbury. He was a Liverpool City Councillor and was Chair toits Housing Committee 1980 - 1984. From 1983 - 1995 and again in 1997 - 1999he worked as a marketing communications consultant. He first contested theLittleborough and Saddleworth constituency in the 1992 general election, whenhe was defeated by the Conservative, Geoffrey Dickens. After the death ofGeoffrey Dickens in 1995 Chris Davies won the seat in a by-election andretained it in the 1997 general election. From 1999 he has been the MEP forNorth West England, and is also an environmental spokesman for EuropeanParliament.
