Scope and Content

PROBATE of the will of John Jones of Beaumaris, co. Anglesey, ship carpenter, dated 27th Feb., 1829. He bequeathed £10 to his servant Mary Humphreys and the rest of his personal estate is left in trust for his son, John Jones until he reaches the age of majority. The trustee, Williams Elias of the Abbey, co. Carnarvon and Edward Thomas of Bangor, Gent., are requested to sell his personal estate and invest the money. From this his sister Jane Jones is to receive £30 p.a. and the use of his house provided she undertakes the upbringing of his son during his minority and on his reaching the age of 21 Jane is to get £500. If she declines the job of looking after his son or marries before he is 21 she is to get £500. If his son dies before then, the children of his relative William Elias are to have £500 and Anne Roberts, servant at Baron Hill and her sister Ellinor, wife of John Jones [who] lives near the Marquis Column are to have £50 each and the remainder to go to his sister. In the event of both his sister and his son dying the beneficiaries would be the children of Wm. Elias and his other relatives with the exception of Anne, wife of John Rowlands of Beaumaris and her sister, Mary Parry, spinster, whom he explicitly cuts out of his will. He names his trustees and his sister as guardians of his son and his trustees are also appointed executors.
