Papers re: school closure

Scope and Content

Papers from an envelope marked 'The Closure of Purton School, April 1933', consisting of correspondence and other papers. Some of the correspondence is not related to the closure, but instead deals with the erection of a barrier outside of the entrance to the boys' school to prevent the children from running out into the road in danger of cars. The correspondence is with a Ben Sheppard, a decorator and refurbisher who encloses a sketch of the potential barrier, and E.S Sinnott, the County Surveyor, giving permission for the construction of the barrier. The other letters deal with the sale of chairs, easels and boards from the school in November 1930, after the closure has been decided upon, as well as the sale of one of the school organs.
