The bulk of the collection consists of the Departmental and experimental papers of Dr Davy, including course and lecture notes. There is also a bundle of correspondence, c.1930-1962, and a few University publications inluding Students Union handbooks, class registers and notices of Adult Education courses. A sizable series of offprints of journal articles (some by Davy) make up the rest of the collection.

Administrative / Biographical History
Dr Norman Davy was a member of the Physics Department of Nottingham University from January 1920 until his retirement in August 1961. He carried out several research projects on the character of magnetic fields, which had important applications in the design of apparatus for the study of properties of fundamental particles. He was awarded a D.Sc for his work, in 1947. In the same year he was appointed Reader in Physics, a post which he held until his retirement.
Material is arranged in sections according to form (e.g. correspondence, note books) and chronologically within sections.
