The albums were part of a large amount of archival material in the possession of the Mills Section of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, which was transferred to The Mills Archive in February 2004. Lists produced by the SPAB show three albums; the material currently stored at The Mills Archive corresponds to two of these.
A note in the front of the albums read "Presented to the Windmill Section by Mrs R. Reid of Rawdon, Upper Packington Rd. Ashby de la Zouch, Leics. October 1956 in memory of her husband who died in 1955." The front of one album, with this note attached, is stored with the photographs.
