Scope and Content

The material consists of: notes of Ritchie's lectures on logic, 1809-1810; lectures on logic, 1811; notes of his lectures on logic, 1823-1824; and, an autograph signature.

Administrative / Biographical History

David Ritchie was born in 1763. He was an ordained Minister of the Church of Scotland and was Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1814. He was Professor of Logic at Edinburgh University from 1808 to 1836. Professor David Ritchie died on 10 January 1844.
