Scope and Content

The minutes record the meetings of the Huddersfield Labour Party from 23rd July 1918 until 24th October 1922. The first meeting on 23 July 1918 is the first meeting of the Party under the national Labour Party's new constitution which included Clause IV (which contained the Party's commitment to socialism). The minutes also record: detailed discussion of party finances 2nd September 1919, plans for publication within the 'Examiner' 9th January 1920, "Stop the New War" demonstation and publication within the Examiner 19th September 1922. The minutes also record the communications and letters between party members concerning general politics such as elections, events and the arranging of meetings.
