Pontecorvo was informed by the Executive Secretary of the Royal Society that his paper was unfit for publication and he enclosed a copy of the referees's report stating why it was declined. Pontecorvo has marked the bundle "important and amusing" and writes that "the paper was sent to Somatic Cell Genetics and published at once. It has the higest citation rate in all my papers".
He suspected that the referee may have been Sir Henry Harris (a pioneer of research on cancer and genetics) but was not certain of this. Also includes a copy of Pontecorvo's paper.
