Scope and Content

LETTER: J[ane] Pollard at Georgetown [Jamaica] to her cousin Miss Maria B. Troughton. Says she has been ill but is slowly recovering. Understands that her cousin is not happy yet she should '...do...whatever your Father requires of you..'. Goes on to describe the Churches that she attends; and also an interesting glimpse of the etiquette of the period when she talks of religious meetings in each others houses, '...when at the married mens house sthe ladies attend, but when at the Bacheors houses only the gentlemen com[e]. Mentions that she has seen Ellis [Troughton] at the races and that he looks, ' remarkably well'.
