Booklet printed in colour with black and white photographs of the history of the Bowmans family milling business founded by James Bowman in 1857. Includes photos of Whitley Bridge premises and the office which was previously the owner's home. The section on Whitley Bridge explains that it was bought from the owner, Dick Adderley, in 1975 in order to begin production in the North. Bowmans at Whitley Bridge became a supplier of specialist flours to food and confectionery companies.
Its specialisms included kosher flour, which has to be free of salt, water and fat and made under the supervision of a Rabbi. To avoid the disruption involved the company bought a mobile miniature mill from Buhler in Switzerland to devote to kosher flour. See WBMC-057.
