Archive Collection

Scope and Content

The agenda and minutes comprise the bulk of the file. The correspondence relates chiefly to Solly Zuckerman's appointments as a vice president and then President and to his attendance at meetings and events organised by the Society.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Fauna Preservation Society (FPS), from 1981 the Fauna and Flora Preservation Society, was founded in 1903 and had close links with the Zoological Society of London (ZSL). Its secretariat was accommodated in the ZSL's Regent's Park offices. Solly Zuckerman became a vice president of the FPS in 1964. In 1973 he became its President.
