Administrative / Biographical History

St Bride's Minor with Bettws Parish was formed in the Spring of 1989 with the merger of the two former parishes. This followed a six month interim period where one vicar was looking after the two parishes before they formally merged. At the time of the merger the following churches were in the parish: St David's, Bettws, St Theodore's, Bryncethin and St Bride's, Llansantffraid. St Theodore's closed in 1992 was demolished a few years later. In 2002 St John's church, Aberkenfig joined from the parish of Tondu. The parish was then known as St Bride's Minor and Bettws with Aberkenfig until 2004 when it changed its name to the Parish of Llansantffraid, Bettws and Aberkenfig (LBA for short).
