Administrative / Biographical History

The SRC of the Commercial College was founded in 1919 and given Statutory Recognition by the Secretary of State for Scotland in 1959. The Council ran dances and other functions, published the student magazine and generally encouraged student clubs and societies. In 1964 the Commercial College SRC merged with that of the Royal College of Science and Technology to form the Students' Association of the University of Strathclyde.
