Inverkip Power Station

Scope and Content

Client: Sir Robert McAlpine and Sons Ltd, Engineering Contractors.

Relating to the proposed [oil-fired] power station at Inverkip, Renfrewshire (Inverclyde) for the South of Scotland Electricity Board. On the instructions of the consulting engineers, James Williamson and Partners, George Wimpey and Co. conducted and initial site investigation. Rowe commented on the grouting at the chimney and the T/A block foundations.

[Construction work began in 1970 and the power station was commissioned in three phases between December 1976 and August 1979.]
