Robert Cecil to Mrs Strachey

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter. Written from Chelwood Gate, Haywards Heath. Dated 1 Jan 1931. Possibly refers to exchange of letters between him and MGF? 'Dear Mrs Strachey, I am generally in favour of publishing things. But in this instance the letters are so very frank and personal that I feel they ought not to be published at present. To do so would make any intercourse between L.G. and myself so difficult if not impossible which might especially just now be very unfortunate and I really don't see how any 'pruning' or 'editing' could make it any better. I am very sorry, yours ever, Cecil'.
