Millicent Garrett Fawcett to Sir John Simon

Scope and Content

Copy, in Mrs Fawcett's hand. Says she and the suffrage organisations are deeply grateful for his support, and this has been expressed 'again and again'. Says she never advises women how to vote, and so could not mention any particular candidates or constituencies at the meeting. Feels it was Lloyd George's government that gave women the vote. Says the 'PM's vigour, courage, insight and driving power have saved the country ...if I had twenty votes I would give them all to the Coalition (pp.328-329). Manuscript.
