The king and queen of Saxony visited today and had tea; the queen had been reading Mrs Earle's 'Pot Pourri from a Surrey Garden' and 'More Pot Pourri'; he gave her 'Agrestia Ligustica' ['Riviera Nature Notes'] which she had heard of but did not know where to obtain; he also gave her 'The White Olive'; the king and queen are 'simple and pleasant in their manners, shaking hands and chatting like ordinary folks'; he has been reading 'Gems of Chinese Literature' translated by Giles, and can lend it to him if he has time to read it
