Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Discovery Committee was established in 1918 to address the issue of the southern whale fishery. The Discovery Investigations comprised of oceanographic surveys carried out to produce information on the whaling and sealing industries around the Falkland Islands Dependencies. Scott's first expedition ship Discovery carried out the first survey in 1925, she was later replaced in this work by Discovery II and William Scoresby.
The collection is arranged chronologically.
