Scope and Content

Lessees: Thomas Forrest of [Dunham] Woodhouses to. Dunham Massey farmer, and Faithful Street of Sandiway [to. Weaverham cum Milton] pa. Weaverham yeo.

Property: a messuage and tenement in Dunham Woodhouses now in the occupation of Thomas Forrest, and fields in Dunham Woodhouses thereto belonging called the Hemp Croft, the Gorsey Croft, the Daisy Acre, the Little Broad Field and Lane, the nearer and further parts of the Great Broad Field, the Clough, the Westel Acre (in Warburton), the Evans Croft, the Bend Eye Meadow at the head of Little Braddy, the Cadman's Rough formerly the Intack, and the Chetwode's Acre (in Agden), (21 a. 4 p.).

Term: 11 years.

Rent: £81 7s, payable on 25 March and 29 September; also £10 for every acre above 6 acres ploughed in any year during the term.

Clauses: lessees are to repair the glass windows, gates, stiles, hedges, ditches etc.; lessees are to do suit and service at the courts of Lord Stamford; lessees are to grind their corn at Lord Stamford's mills; lessees are to keep 1 hound for the use of Lord Stamford; lessees are to provide straw, rods and sprinkles [spinklings] for thatching, and to thatch as directed; husbandry clauses re ploughing, sowing with clover, manuring; lessees are not to fell or damage timber trees.
