Scope and Content

Two letters from Lady Louisa Grey (1771-1830) [daughter of George Harry Grey (1737-1819), 5th Earl of Stamford], to F[armer] Taylor esq of Chicknell [House] Bridgnorth co. Salop. She congratulates him on his engagement and marriage to Juliana, daughter of Richard Cavendish, and conveys the best wishes of his friends at Dunham Massey.

The wrapper is addressed to "F[armer] Taylor Esqr | Chicknell | Bridgenorth | Stamford", written in the hand of the 5th Earl of Stamford.

[Farmer Taylor was a magistrate for Shropshire and the borough of Bridgnorth, and served as high sheriff in 1815; for further information see Burke's landed gentry (1853), pp. 1371-2. See also EGR13/31-32 below.]
