The Hale Field Tenement was granted to Edmund Barlow by lease dated 3 August 1803 [EGR14/2/8/42/1]. Barlow subsequently mortgaged the premises to Josiah Garner by demise for 99 years in order to secure £180, subject to a covenant that, should any of the lives in the original lease die before the sum was repaid, Garner might surrender the lease and take out a new one. The original sum and a further charge of £120 remain unpaid and Garner has renewed the lease [EGR14/2/8/43/1-2 above]. Now he declared that he holds the property in trust for Edmund Barlow, only son of Edmund Barlow dec'd.
