Scope and Content

Letter from [Lord] Granville C[harles] H[enry] Somerset [Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster] to George Harry Grey (1765-1845), 6th Earl of Stamford (/1), dated 20 December 1842. He intends to insert the name of John Sidebottom of Harewood Lodge in the Commission of the Peace for Lancashire. Appended is a copy of Lord Stamford's reply, dated 26 December at Enville, acknowledging receipt.

Also a letter from Legh Richmond [Lord Stamford's agent] to Lord Stamford (/2), dated 24 December. Discusses names recommended to be inserted in the Commission of the Peace for Lancashire.
