Estate Accounts

Scope and Content

Other than EGR3/7/1/8/1 and EGR3/7/1/8/7, all pieces are presented in the same format. For each year the receipts (from rents, heriots, sales of timber and bark), disbursements in taxes and repairs etc., and clear profit are recorded in tabular form for the separate estates: Bowdon parish and rectory, Wilmslow, Mottram in Longdendale or Stayley and Hattersley, Ashton under Lyne [co. Lancs], Warrington [co. Lancs] (sold in 1762). The totals of receipts, disbursements and clear profit for all the estates are calculated; to the latter is added the income from mills, lands in hand besides park and gardens, and fines for renewals of leases, to produce a sum total of estate profit.

The descriptions below record only the clear profit from the several sources, and the sum total. Halfpennies and farthings have been rounded down to the nearest whole penny, halfpenny-farthings rounded up, resulting in minor arithmetical discrepancies.

Written in the hand of Mary Countess of Stamford.
