Letter from Mary Lumsden to her mother Frances Elizabeth Grey. M.L. despairs of receiving letters from friends in England and is anxious to hear news. M.L. is expecting their first child and finds the heat oppressive. Her husband has had a boat built, and they hope to go cruising in a month or two. Postscript dated 5 May: the monsoons are due at the end of the month. The countryside is very dry and looks barren, now that the cotton crop has been harvested.
