Letter from Thomas Hill to Lord Stamford. In accordance with Lord Stamford's instructions, he has visited the new church at Tintwistle and now presents his findings. Lord Stamford has only one field with buildings attached in Tintwistle. The parsonage house will cost £500; £153 has been raised already and it is hoped to obtain £200 from Queen Anne's Bounty. The church will cost £2100. There are 970 sittings and the average congregation is 700. The minister's income is about £120. T.H. was impressed by the earnestness with which the scheme is being promoted.
Annotated with a note in the hand of Lord Stamford that he donated £50 to the building of the church in 1837, and £50 to the building of the parsonage house in 1839.
