Scope and Content

Copy inventory of furniture and other effects at Dunham Massey Hall, the property of [George Harry Grey (1827-83), 7th] Earl of Stamford dec'd, made for probate purposes by Artingstall and Hind between 26 February and 9 March 1883.

The inventory consists of a room-by-room survey of the Hall which itemizes the contents of all the principal rooms, bedrooms, domestic offices, servants' quarters and cellars, garden tools, and equipment in the Mill. This is followed by a list of pictures, giving the number of pictures in each room but not identifying them individually, and a list of books, giving the number of books on each shelf in each location but not recording titles.
