Scope and Content

Parties: 1) Rt Hon George Harry [Grey (1737-1819), 5th] Earl of Stamford

2) George Bridges Brudenell of Ayston co. Rutland esq, and Richard Hopkins of Oving co. Bucks esq

Copy of original release dated 20 January 1778, which recited an indenture of 26 March 1766 whereby (2) were made trustees for sale of the estate of John Grey (d 1777) [see EGR4/1/7/12 above]. After the death of John Grey (2) sold the residue of the estates vested in them by public auction on 2 July 1777, but no part of the estates had yet been conveyed to the purchasers.

Now (1), at the request of (2), being satisfied that John Grey's will was duly executed and in order that the trusts therein may be carried out, releases to (2) the manor of Ashby Folville co. Leics, the advowson of Ashby Folville vicarage, and several messuages, closes and tithes in Ashby Folville.

Attested to be a true copy of the original, 4 February 1778.
