The subseries contains 10 large-format copies of the tithe apportionment books for the townships within the parishes of Bowdon and Ashton upon Mersey. The copies were probable contemporary, or near contemporary, with the original apportionments. For each parcel of land in a township the following information is provided in tabular format: the name of the landowner, the name of the occupier, the number on the plan, the name and description of the land and premises, the state of cultivation, the area in statute measure, the amounts of rent charge payable to the vicar and to the appropriate rector, and remarks. The column headings and rulings are pre-printed in all items except EGR14/73/1/5 & /8. At the front of several volumes is a preamble rehearsing the commutation agreement and award.
