The bundle contains letters from Messrs Goslings & Sharpe, bankers, and Praeds & Co., to George Harry Grey (1765-1845), 6th Earl of Stamford, concerning financial transactions, particularly payments of interest on loans taken out by Lord Stamford, 1843-5 (EGR4/2/6/3/5-16 & /51). There are numerous receipts from the beneficiaries of the half-yearly interest payments (/18-49).
In addition there is a receipt for a contribution paid by George Harry Grey (1765-1845) to the Stourbridge & Bridgenorth Turnpike, 1819 (/1); a letter from Goslings & Sharpe concerning a dividend payment to John Cotes esq, 1820 (/2); a memorandum of a donation to Carrington chapel, 1821 (/3); a bond for the payment of £6000 with interest to T.W. Ollivant, 1832 (/4); a draper's bill for cloth purchased for George Harry Grey (1827-83), 1845 (/17); and notes on whether an owner can raise money on an estate directed by will to be sold after his death, undated (/50).
The bundle was found in a envelope addressed to the 10th Earl of Stamford and annotated "Old family letters".
