The volume contains four successive rentals for tenancies in Dunham Massey, Bollington, Timperley, Bowdon, Hale, Altrincham, Sale, Ashley, Partington, Ashton [upon Mersey] and Carrington, and on Bowdon glebe. The first rental covers the years 1703-5 (pp. 1-21); the second has ruled columns for the years 1706-8 but was used in 1706 only (pp. 23-44); the third and fourth rentals records payments of rent at Midsummer and Martinmas 1707 (pp. 47-57 & 58-68); pp. 69-88 are blank, save for some minor annotations.
Within each township or section tenancies are arranged in tenement-number order, although in the first rental the numbers are not stated, and the fourth is only partially numbered. The first two rentals provide the following information for each tenement: the name of the tenant; the boons or labour services due from the tenant; the rent; the value of each of the boons. Marks in columns ruled down the page record the payment of rent at Midsummer and Martinmas each year.
The third rental records for each tenement the name of the tenant, the rent payable [at Midsummer], the number of boon hens due, and the payment of rent. The fourth records the rent payable at Martinmas and Midsummer 1707.
