The two letters from Agnes Sidebottom and Thomas Hill to George Harry Grey (1765-1845), 6th Earl of Stamford, concern donations to the new church at Tintwistle, Christ Church. A parish was formed out of part of Mottram in Longdendale parish and the church built by public subscription in 1837: see Ormerod, vol. 3, p. 873.
