Scope and Content

Entitled "A Plan of the Duke of Bridgewater's Navigable Canal already made, with the Extention proposed from Longford Bridge to Liverpool".

Shows the course of the canal from Worsley [to. Eccles co. Lancs] to Longford Bridge [to. Stretford co. Lancs], and from Longford Bridge to Manchester, with the proposed extension to the Hempstones [to. Halton] near Runcorn; also "The Cource of the Old River" [rivers Irwell & Mersey]; locks are identified by key, and road crossings and settlements along the route of the canal are also indicated.
