The wallet contains papers relating to the sale of Carrington Moss by the Stamford Trustees to Manchester Corporation in 1886. Papers include a plan of intakes on Carrington Moss, 1884 (EGR14/16/14/1), correspondence, schedules of land, and schedules of the apportionments of rents and tithes.
The wallet also contains papers concerning the sale to Manchester Corporation of additional land in Carrington and in Flixton co. Lancs in 1902, as part of the Manchester Main Drainage Scheme. The land, which lay to the north-west of Carrington village, was required for filter beds for the distribution and disposal of effluent from Davyhulme sewage works. Pieces comprise a compulsory purchase notice, 1892 (/50); a book of reference scheduling the lands required, 1893 (/51); 2 plans of the land, 1893 (/52-53); and another plan of the area, ?1893 (/54).
