Scope and Content

Letter from Hugo Worthington to Lord Stamford. Discusses the sale of timber in Ashton under Lyne [co. Lancs] and Hattersley. Also discusses the payment of rent arrears by Mr Bentley Brooke [for part of Ashton Old Hall, Ashton under Lyne]. Mr [Francis Dukinfield] Astley is willing to give a bond to guarantee payment. H.W. told Astley how much Lord Stamford was distressed by his letter [EGR4/1/8/4/16 above]. Asks for instructions on preparing a lease and bond. Hopes to complete the sale of Mr B[ooth] Grey's estates in Caverswall [co. Staffs].
