The volume begins with memoranda in the hand of Mary Countess of Stamford concerning the charity's annual income (£168 6s dividend), and expenditure: 12 guineas distributed at Christmas, boarding and teaching 6 boys at Carrington School, clothing 12 poor old men and women at Christmas. There follows an alphabetical list of poor persons clothed in 1768, giving names and (in most cases) townships, also in the hand of Lady Stamford.
The main section contains income and expenditure accounts for the charity, 1769-1787. Income was derived from dividends on annuities; entries for disbursements show payments to named individuals, and expenditure on schooling poor children, clothing for the poor, distributions of money to the poor, apprentices' fees etc.
Entitled "Earl of Warrington's | Charity" on front cover, and annotated inside front cover: "N.B. | This is only the Rough Book | For the Yearly Accounts wrote out | Fair from the Earl of Warrington's | Death Vide the Folio", in the hand of Mary Countess of Stamford.
Entries up to 1772 are in the hand of Mary Countess of Stamford, thereafter in the hand of the 5th Earl of Stamford.
