Scope and Content

Plan of loonts or doles [strips of land or allotments] in common fields in Bowdon called the North and South Eye Brooks, Sanders's Field and Long Acre. The plan shows field boundaries, individual (numbered) loonts, gates, footpaths, the Chester Road (described as "The Street"), the road to Dunham (later known as Park Road), and "the Out Lane".

A separate reference sheet gives the name of the tenant and the acreage of each loont in each field, and the attribution "G", glebe, "S", Mary Countess of Stamford's, or "A", Mr [Thomas] Assheton's.

[The plan was compiled in connection with the exchange of lands in Bowdon: see EGR11/5/4-5 above.]
